This project summarises the creative process that defines and vertebrates Botto. The surface is divided into three spaces that refer to the artist’s journey before generating his work. First, Botto creates hundreds of images through the analysis of millions of works, resulting in an infinite archive of creations. Subsequently, the decentralised community that directs the artist’s steps votes among these images to select their favorite work. Among all these pieces, a single image is chosen.  Finally, it is minted and uploaded to SuperRare, the NFT marketplace. This whole process is represented in the installation that includes, in addition to the images, the voting process so that the visitor can participate in the whole process.

Botto is a pioneering AI governed by a decentralised community of 5,000 users. Launched in October 2021, Botto creates art fragments – images autonomously produced from its analysis of million of artworks and artistic movements – voted for each week. Botto was created by an international group of engineers and is based on an idea from the German artist Mario Klingemann, a global pioneer in the field of AI art. It challenges ideas of who and what an artist is and the incredible creative possibilities of human-machine collaboration.
