Kunsthalle NFT Edition I – LCD 1
Curated by Nina Roehrs, Kunsthalle Zürich launches a dedicated NFT edition program, which aims to show the many facets of NFTs in the arts.
It kicked off on November 25, 2022 with Andreas Gysin’s work LCD 1. LCD 1 is hardware and software as entity. It runs a generative program to create animated text (ASCII/ANSI) compositions, shown on a monochrome display with a strong object character.

LCD 1 is based on Gysin’s series Terminals. Terminals are 9 studies of 32×32 character compositions in motion. Movement and procedural patterns are enhanced through the use of gradients or solid colors. Perfect loops, optimized for smaller 9:16 displays. LCD 1 runs the next version of the Terminals code optimised and adapted for monochrome and embedded systems.

Andreas Gysin (aka ertdfgcvb) is a designer and artist based in Lugano, Switzerland. Research, experimentation, analysis and discovery are fundamental to his creative process for both artistic and commercial projects. He often works as a duo with Sidi Vanetti. Gysin also created the logo for the exhibition DYOR.

Kuratiert von Nina Roehrs lanciert die Kunsthalle Zürich ein NFT Editionsprogramm, das sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten von NFT für die Kunst aufzuzeigen. Den Anfang machte am 25. November 2022 Andreas Gysin’s Werk LCD 1.
LCD 1 ist Hardware und Software als Einheit. Es führt ein generatives Programm zur Erstellung von animierten Textkompositionen (ASCII/ANSI) aus, die auf einem monochromen Display mit starkem Objektcharakter gezeigt werden.
LCD 1 basiert auf der Serie Terminals von Gysin. Terminals sind 9 Studien von 32×32 Zeichenkompositionen in Bewegung. Bewegung und prozedurale Muster werden durch die Verwendung von Farbverläufen oder Volltonfarben verstärkt. Perfekte Schleifen, optimiert für kleinere 9:16-Displays. LCD 1 zeigt die nächste Version des Terminals-Codes, die für monochrome und Embedded-Systeme optimiert und angepasst wurde.

Andreas Gysin (alias ertdfgcvb) ist Designer und Künstler wohnhaft in Lugano. Forschung, Experimentieren, Analyse und Entdeckung sind die Grundlagen seines kreativen Prozesses sowohl für künstlerische als auch für kommerzielle Projekte. Er arbeitet oft im Duo mit Sidi Vanetti. Gysin hat auch das Logo für die aktuelle Ausstellung DYOR entworfen.
